Step 3 of 8

Upload the file and check the columns

Yeam shows you which column it matched to each field, lets you fix any of them, and refuses patient columns before anything is saved.

Upload it

  1. Sign in at app.yeam.ai.

    No account yet? Create one.

  2. Drop your file on the box, or click Choose file.

A new workspace opens on the Worklist, and the only thing on it is a box that says Drop your claims or denials file. Use that one. Yeam works out from the columns whether it is an A/R file or a denials report, and the preview tells you which columns decided it.

Once you have data, files go in through Connect data in the left menu. It has two boxes: Import A/R + claims for your all-claims or A/R report, and Import denials for a denials-only report. If you pick the wrong one, Yeam notices.

  3. Check the preview.

Nothing is saved yet. The preview has three columns: Field is what Yeam needs, Column in your file is the column it matched, and First value, as read is the first value from that column the way Yeam understood it.

Look hardest at the dates. They show as year-month-day, so 03/04/2026 showing as 2026-03-04 means March 4. If a match is wrong, pick the right column from its dropdown, or choose not mapped.

  4. Read the line that starts Not read or stored.

It names every patient column Yeam skipped. You cannot point a field at one of these, even on purpose.

  5. Click Looks right.

The button says how many rows it will import.

  6. For an A/R file, click Add to the worklist.

Yeam offers this when the file has denied claims with a reason code. It skips any claim already on your worklist.

Messages you might see

  • Could not find a field. A required column was not recognized. Point a column at it in the preview.
  • No status column found. Yeam worked out each claim’s status from the amounts, so rates from this file are an estimate. Export again with a status column if you can.
  • This file could be read either way. Check whether it says Denials or A/R + claims at the top of the preview. An A/R file read as denials puts paid claims on your worklist.

Columns Yeam refuses

Any column whose name includes one of these words is skipped, never read and never stored:

patient, member, subscriber, DOB, birth, SSN, MRN, NPI, address, phone, email, guarantor, first name, last name

Money columns are the exception. Patient Responsibility, Patient Balance, Copay, Coinsurance and Deductible are read, because they are amounts, not a person. Your practice’s NPI goes in Settings, not the file.

Next month

Upload a fresh A/R file each month. Yeam reads only the newest one, so nothing is counted twice, and your notes, drafts and outcomes stay with each claim number. If an appeal you sent shows as paid in the new file, Yeam marks it recovered and says it read that from the export.

Removing a file

Connect data lists every file under What you have imported. The trash icon removes a file and anything drafted from it.

More than one practice

If your workspace has several practices, pick which one the file belongs to in the preview, next to the row count. Every row in the file goes to that practice.

Follow along

Drop the practice file on the box on your empty Worklist. You should see 1,200 rows readable and Not read or stored: Patient Name, Member ID, DOB. Import it, then click Add to the worklist to add its 101 denials. Next: read the worklist.
